The poems in Ed Pavli\u0107\u2019s Let It Be Broke<\/em> are ignited by sonic memories\u2014from Chaka Khan on the radio to his teenaged daughter singing \u201cStay\u201d at a local caf\u00e9\u2014that spark a journey into personal and ontological questions. Pavli\u0107\u2019s lyric lines are equal parts introspection and inter-spection, a term he coins for the shared rumination that encourages a collective \u201cdeep think\u201d about the arbitrary boundaries that perpetuate racial and geographic segregation and the power of words to transcend those differences. In an epiphanic moment, Pavli\u0107 recalls a quote shared by a former teacher as \u201ca hammer made of written words,\u201d and how he held \u201conto those words \/ as if they were steel bars and I was dangling over some bright black deepness.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
