One speaker observes villagers who \u201ccut snowflakes out of paper \/ and taped them to the windows,\u201d noting this \u201cseemed like an attractive lifestyle.\u201d Watching, remembering, wondering, these speakers want \u201cdanger in the form of deep feeling.\u201d Built around a long epistolary sequence, \u201cThe Weather Ghost Letters,\u201d this collection showcases Ginsburg\u2019s exploratory poetic style. The language is straightforward yet unusual: \u201cleaves pardon themselves\u201d and \u201cTides flatten minnows.\u201d The images are startling, sometimes unsettling: \u201cA lightning throws the oak in flames, warms its chipmunks living inside.\u201d The syntax runs the gamut from fragmented to inverted to traditional.
